Kasese District has more than 67,531 persons with Disabilities. 85% of them need Community based rehabilitation services, education and livelihood.
CANUGAN Disability Support
CANUGAN has been KADUPEDI’s longest-standing partner since 2010, significantly improving mobility and accessibility for persons with disabilities. Over the course of this partnership, Star Key Foundation for Hearing Mission has provided 907 hearing aids, 448 crutches, 112 wheelchairs, 280 white canes, 224 tricycles, 112 calipers, 168 raised shoes, and 168 surgical boots to persons with disabilities. Given Kasese’s disaster-prone nature, CANUGAN has also provided relief support to over 200 PWDs affected by floods.
Rotary Club of Kasese in Partnership with the Global Rotary Club of Ottawa
Through this collaboration, artificial limbs have been provided to over 128 landmine victims and others by Kagando Hospital.
IDI in partnership with KADUPEDI for vocational training
IDI(International development institute) KADUPEDI in partnership with IDI support in vocational training and improvement of awareness for the physical disability category in Kasese district a project for three years (2023-2025), this project enroll yearly and between the ages of 16- 45, it trains in carpentry , welding, tailoring and mechanics and at the end of the course the beneficiaries are given start up kits to improve on the levels of incomes of persons with disabilities. Beneficiaries have attained hands on skills so far males 29, females 38 respectively.
NAF in partnership with KADUPEDI for training school going youth with disabilities
NEW AFRICA FUND (NAF) Training school going children with disabilities aged 10- 16 years on re-usable sanitary pads (girls) and have trained Girls with disabilities: 250, Female teachers/caregivers: 25, Income generating activity (tailoring workshop) this project is ongoing as one of the income generating project for persons with disabilities and this project was initiated to improve on their livelihoods.
