Kasese District has more than 67,531 persons with Disabilities. 85% of them need Community based rehabilitation services, education and livelihood.

Skilling Young Persons with Disabilities for Inclusion

This project successfully provided skills training to 120 young persons with disabilities across the district, covering all disability categories. The initiative included 70 females and 50 males, each of whom received startup kits to help them begin their journey toward economic independence. The project was supported by ENABEL

Disability-Inclusive Livelihood Interventions During and Post-COVID-19 Response

National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) it builds on capacity and give us project on inclusive livelihood intervention during and post COVID 19 response; Under this project we have 108 active Isave groups, skilling 176 young persons with disabilities in different trades like welding, tailoring, hair dressing, among others and providing start up kits to improve on their livelihoods

Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation

In partnership with the Kasese District local government, Uganda Red Cross Society, and other civil society organizations, this project works to reduce the effects of disasters on PWDs and promote inclusive, climate-smart agriculture. A District inclusive multi-hazard contingency plan 2022/23 -2024/25 has been developed and approved. Through this partnership, 45 representatives of PWDs have been trained on disaster management and placed on sub-county/urban disaster committees. Additionally, assistive devices and food relief have been distributed to PWDs affected by disasters.

Hearing aids for persons with hearing impairment

THE STAR KEY FOUNDATION supported 907 with hearing aid for persons with hearing impairment female 615, males 292. this project enabled the persons with hearing impairment to execute their work especially hearing and perform their daily work at ease.

Inclusion Works (Supported by ADD International)

This project aimed to ensure that persons with disabilities (PWDs) are treated equitably in employment and higher education processes. Through this initiative, 43 PWDs have successfully joined public service roles, while 173 have entered the private sector. The project has also facilitated over 43 PWDs entering public universities through affirmative action. Additionally, Rwenzori College of Commerce has been offering 5 scholarships annually, with 25 PWDs earning Diplomas. In collaboration with the Kasese District Service Commission, KADUPEDI has ensured that one extra point is given to male PWDs and two extra points to female PWDs during interview processes.
